JOURNALISM

Project | 1

"The Truth in Make Up"
("Den sminkede sannheten")

The internationally recognized Harvard Professor Steven Pinker visited Oslo to criticize the language of his academic colleagues. I used Pinker's critique as a starting point for an essay on the language skills of Norwegian academics.

Project | 2

"The Big Red of Economics"
("Økonomifagets store røde")

Someone told me about this brilliant communist economist from the University of Oslo. His name was Leif Johansen. He revolutionized his field and was recognized internationally, but died young. Still, neither me or my friends knew his name. Was it because of his political opinions? I started digging for more information, talking to his   colleagues, students and children. It resulted in my favourite story ever.

Project | 3

"Frustrated Before the Election"
("Frustrerte før valget")

Pre-election analysis of the two dominating Brazilian political parties' lack of relevance for the younger generations in Brazil.

Project | 4

"Choose Virtual Knowledge"
("Velger virtuell viten")

My first story as a cultural editor, describing the launch of the first Massive Open Online Course at the University of Oslo.

Project | 5

"New Election Now!"
("Nyvalg nå!")

The Principal of The University of Oslo ignored the election rules, which called for a new democratic election, to keep his position. In the aftermath, I wrote a comment urging him to follow up his usual pro-democracy rethoric with democratic action.

Project | 6

"Canned Child"
("Barn på boks")

In the 80's, Universitas was one of many Norwegian newspapers writing about a behavioural psychologist raising his own son in a copy of the Skinner box. Our editor found the old story, and I found the baby. He was now a grown man with a daughter of his own. His story became the starting point of a reportage about the emotional effects of differences in upbringing.

Project | 7

"The New Sports Heroes"
("De nye idrettsheltene")

Me trying to take the growing e-sports scene seriously, judging them by the same standards as traditional sports.

Project | 8

"New Dimension"
("Ny dimensjon")

Visiting the 3D-printing educations in Oslo, discussing the current and future use of the technology.

Project | 9

"First Myself and then Myself"
("Først meg selv, og så meg selv")

Review of a modern twist to the most famous Norwegian play ever: Peer Gynt. Using elements like buttplugs and terrorism made the old boring classic cool again. The interpretation showed us that the new-rich Norwegian is a lying bastard.

Project | 10

"Sold for a Secret Sum"
("Solgt for hemmelig sum")

The Student Welfare Organization in Oslo sold the student bookstore after more than 50 years - for a secret sum. We tried to pressure them as best as we could, but they wouldn't release the number. In short, we made a fuzz about it.
